Friends of Mid-Fairfield Hospice often ask how they can help. Contributions may be made directly to Mid-Fairfield Hospice and can help to ensure that we will be able to continue to provide quality home care to all the members of our community in need. Donations in any amount are gratefully accepted. Donations can also be designated as memorial contributions, bequests or planned giving programs.

Mid-Fairfield Hospice, Inc., is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit, corporation under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. For more information, please contact our Development Office at 203-834-6341, extension 304.

We Respect Your Privacy
At our site, we do not collect personally identifiable information from individuals unless they provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. This means we do not require you to register or provide information to us in order to view our site. Mid-Fairfield Hospice only gathers personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, email addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by a visitor. For example, personally identifiable information may be collected in order to respond to a stated desire to volunteer time to Mid-Fairfield Hospice, to receive the newsletter, or to make a financial contribution online. This information is used solely by Mid-Fairfield Hospice or other entities who are involved in the operation of this site for internal purposes.

Mid-Fairfield Hospice Lists Are Never Sold to Third Parties
We will never sell, trade or disclose your personally identifiable information to anyone. We will only share personally identifiable information with third parties when (i) the person submitting the information authorizes us to share it; (ii) sharing the information is a necessary operation of the site, for instance, to process a credit card transaction, or (iii) we are required to by law.

Your Credit Card Information Is Secure
We care about the safety and security of your transaction. We employ a Server Digital Certificate and the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Protocol to encrypt all data traffic. They use high grade encryption and the https security protocol to communicate with your browser software. This method is the industry standard security protocol, and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all your personal information, so that it cannot be read over the internet. If you prefer, you may also make a donation by calling (203) 834-6341 and asking to speak with someone in our Development Department.

Please note: we do not sell any merchandise online, and as such there is no "return policy." Donations are considered non-refundable.

Planned Giving
We all know how important it is to have a will. Once you have provided for your loved ones, we would be grateful if, in your estate planning, you would remember Mid-Fairfield Hospice with a bequest and help us bring healing and comfort to our community.

A bequest is a way in which friends, supporters and those whose lives have been touched by Mid-Fairfield Hospice can continue their support. Bequests of any size will ensure that Mid-Fairfield Hospice will be here to serve our community for generations to come.

The New Canaan Thrift Shop
Whether ordinary or offbeat, you can donate items from your closet, garage or attic and make a difference in someone's life. It's the perfect way to recycle!

The New Canaan Thrift Shop accepts donations of gently used articles of clothing, accessories, jewelry, books, sporting goods, small appliances, housewares, china, silver, paintings, crockery, toys, games, and small home furnishings.

A community treasure since 1930, the New Canaan Thrift Shop is housed at its landmark corner location at 2 Locust Avenue. The New Canaan Thrift Shop is one of the oldest volunteer-run thrift shops in the country and all proceeds directly benefit the patients of Nursing & Home Care.

The New Canaan Thrift Shop is open from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Donations are accepted from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon, Monday through Saturday.

Volunteer Opportunities
We also welcome your contribution of time in one of our many volunteer programs.

Our Peer Counseling volunteers provide counseling and companionship to older adults who are experiencing loneliness, personal loss, bereavement, life transitions or chronic illness.

Patient support volunteers may assist with grocery shopping and errands or provide transportation and accompany patients to medical appointments.

Other volunteer opportunities include:
• Serving as a member of the Agency's Board of Directors
• Helping to plan, promote and participate in special events and fundraisers
• Providing office assistance
• Working at our New Canaan Thrift Shop or at The Turnover Shop in Wilton
• Working on special assignments such as Flu Clinics
Mid-Fairfield Hospice offers a unique program of compassionate home health care to the members of our community. Volunteers are a vital part of our program.
